ReportNeedles.ca
Originally built during a 24-hour hackathon to solve a problem statement submitted by AIDS Program South Saskatchewan, this project has helped collect 30k+ needles from the streets of Regina, Saskatchewan and provide research data & justification for program funding.
Built on Winter CMS, it includes general website functionality (pages, menus, etc) as well as the needle report functionality which makes use of Google Maps and the location APIs in the browser as well as allowing users to upload pictures of the needles they’re reporting. Backend users can then view and manage the reports receiving email notifications with direct links to directions to the reported needle and the ability to close out the report with the status and amount of needles collected.
Program administrators are then able to view the past history of reports in a map based as well as raw data views for optimal resources.
